Johannesburg, South Africa – October 24, 2025
Respublica Group, owner, and operator of Respublica Student Living, is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of the MySpace brand and student accommodation portfolio in Stellenbosch, comprising 582 beds across multiple properties. The acquired portfolio includes three Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) residences (MySpace@Paradys, MySpace@Dorp, and MySpace@Drostdy ) as well as the 8 Digs properties.
This strategic acquisition of MySpace marks a significant milestone in Respublica’s expansion into the Western Cape, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality, purpose-built student accommodation across South Africa.
The acquisition aligns with Respublica’s strategic objective to diversify its geographic presence and supports the Group’s long-term growth ambitions, with further development and acquisition projects already in the pipeline.
Respublica now assumes full operational control of these MySpace properties, integrating them into its existing management framework to ensure consistent service delivery and student experience. Respublica will maintain all management and administration functions from the existing MySpace offices situated at the Drostdy Centre.
“This acquisition is a transformative step for Respublica,” said Craig McMurray, CEO of Respublica Group. “Stellenbosch represents a premium student market, and the MySpace portfolio offers a compelling opportunity to expand our national footprint while maintaining our commitment to quality and affordability.”
“A smooth and seamless transition is our top priority and the existing on-site teams, which will join the Respublica family, will be focused on ensuring the highest levels of resident satisfaction and operational excellence. We will take the time to listen to our residents, understand their needs, and build on the relationship.”
